Hi, I wonder, how can the component gain access to a site where the download package is located (as specified in the ver.txt file) without explicitely defining the user/password login parameters to that site. Can ftp:// protocol be user in the ver.txt file? How could the login info be supplied?

Hi there! You would only need to provide the user and pass if that area is password protected through htpasswd! However if it's not protected you can use a simple link to that location!

But, as a simple suggestion, you could do this if you still require to access that protected area:
- put the user and pass into the ver.txt file
- protect through htaccess the file ver.txt against downloads, or move it in another location and modify it's path inside the Joomla.Start.php file

The suggested ftp method will require adjustments inside the Joomla.Cloner.php, but it would work this way also!
