My only explication would be that on the original site you have a backup with same name in the Joomla main path! Try to create a clone by excluding it!

If you still have problems send me your site details, Joomla admin details+ remote ftp site to check the problem so i can give you a straight answer!

uploads SOME of the files to the archive_tmp 2 Years, 6 Months ago
my question now is this:

I'm moving a backup that is 150 mb zip file
(300 mb before zipping)
so its big....

I suspect ftp connection just gets broken
ftp is far from 100 percent reliable...

is there any way I can use "secure ftp"
since both urls are https
and have SSL security certificates.
would "secure ftp" have less dropouts.

it got ALL the files into the archive_tmp folder this time, but only a few were then moved to the url.com
folder...

I'm going to just run autmatic restore again
hopefully it knows where it stopped
and will continue from there...

Post edited by: electricJedi, at: 2006/06/17 06:41

Hi there! The secure ftp mode will be the same as ftp mode, i would suggest to better move the file manually!

About the restore, using the ftp mode will require indeed a lot of time to run, you should try the direct restore mode!

well, yeah, we might have to do it manually, this time.
but I'm determined...I believe in joomlaCloner...I beeelieeeve...

the thing I'm still confused on is this.

that "Joomla.Cloner.php" file

I have one everywhere...

where does it HAVE to be...
maybe I have too many of those guys
all over

it PUTS one in the "url.com" folder
but I think you said it should be in the /www
folder (so I put one there too)
I'm confused about that.
there's even one in the original url
that's being copied!! that one might be an old one...
or maybe the program is putting a new one in there

it hasn't loaded the db yet
or set up the config file
but I'm determined...

we still have all this champagne on ice here
the ice bill is going up but
the orchestra is all tuned up and ready to play our victory song!

I'm trying another direct mode now...

GOT IT!@#$!@#$ 2 Years, 6 Months ago
we are cracking the champagne
the eagle has landed

It worked
just like magic...

thanks again Ovidiu
for excellent support
luckily (for you)
once people GET it
they will know

its takes a little tinkering
but worth the effort...

here's some tips:

when it made the "administrator" folder
the permissions were wrong and it stopped
so I fixed the permissions on the new "administrator"
folder...ran it again, and it worked...
also I excluded a few un-needed files to get the size down
and did a "direct" install.

not sure if any of that matters
it might have just been dropouts in the ftp
its hard to say

although I did use "direct" mode
it seems the permissions were restored
so direct mode worked fine for permissions
it appears:

Permissions restored to their initial value...

Files succesfully copied to /home/.host/user/url.com
There were some errors while importing the database:
Variable 'character_set_client' can't be set to the value of 'NULL' On Query: /*!40101 SET CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT=@OLD_CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT */;
Database populated...
Backup restored...
Configuation updated!
All should be done! Click here to continue...

any ideas on what this db error is about?
(site seems to be working fine)

Post edited by: electricJedi, at: 2006/06/17 11:35

Hi there! That's not an error, it's just a small notice from mysql importing! It seems all worked fine

Good luck!Ovidiu
