Not able to create/view backup 2 Years, 5 Months ago
My first backup produced files in the backup directory. However, "/ com_cloner / view" does not list the backup.

Hi there!

You need to go in the Configuration area and input there the full server path to the backups directory, like /home/../backups!

Let me know if you still have problems! Regards, Ovidiu

Hi, thanks for your quick response.
According to cpanel, the path should be /public_html/administrator/backups

This path gives me "Your backup directory /public_html/administrator/backups is not corect! Could not read..." when I click on "View Backups"
When I click "Generate Backup", I get "Your backup directory /public_html/administrator/backups/ is not writeable or does not exists!"

Yet, when I used the default directory "backups" without the full path, I did not get a error message and files were created in the backups directory. However, "View Backups" did not find the files.

I have been having lots of file permission issues with this host and since I'm new to Joomla, I'm not sure if it's Joomla or questionable Unix admin.

Any/all help would be appreciated.

Hi there! The full path on your server is something that starts with /home/user/public_html/administrator/backups !

We have made an update in our package that is meant to fix you problem, if you could download and reinstall the component, the backup path will now be automatically rewritten to the corect location!

Regards, Ovidiu

Awesome! So most if not all Linux systems start with a root of home/user/ which is hidden from cpanel & ftp programs. Thanks for supporting this newbie. Now to figure out the cloning part. You guys are great!

Not necesarelly all system, but a majority have '/home' as starting point for path! You can always check your server path by going into the php info area from your Joomla and look for DOCUMENT_ROOT variable, that will give your full site path details!

Have fun!!! Ovidiu
