event related cron 1 Year, 4 Months ago
Hi,

Can I use this JCron for this situation:

I have a bad situation where I need to execute some 'sync tool' from the backend area of my Joomla site each time a new user registers at my site. This is temporarily and I don't have a better solution for now

So, I need to click a link from the admin backend (and that 'sync tool' does its job after that click) each time a new user registers at my web site.

Is this possible using this component?
Thank you in advance.

Hi there! Unfortunately this is not possible because since you access a link from the backend, a session needs to be registered to verify the logged user!

However if you are able to make a separate script that is not included in the Joomla backend, then you could use JCron to run the specified task!

Thanks a lot for a fast response, I appreciate it.

Suppose that I manage to extract the script code out, can I place that extracted script in the webroot folder and point the JCron to it? It is important that this script is being run after somebody registers at my site or some similar event like that.

Again, i don't think JCron will help you with this, it can only run script at certain time points, however if you need a script to access that program after somebody registers, why don't you add that code right in the Joomla code in the last register step, it could be much easier!

Sorry for bothering you, I'll think of something like that, it just seemed to me as a very good idea to use a cron task for that.

Anyway, thank you a lot for all your responses.
