Mines working fine except every time I hit refresh on the page it adds another guest, what could be causing this?

How can I make it writable?
Do I need to use FTP?
What chmod should it be? 777?

Try switching the cron type to fsockopen or set allow_url_fopen to Yes in your site php.ini config
