by using the above patch in your com_register/register.php file, have you tried implementing in your Joomla site?

Ived already installed the roundcube component in my joomla and works out fine. I used a wrapper to handle the output. Thank you so much for this component. But i still have some questions regarding the component and am pretty much sure u would understand what am trying to ask,

1. I am interested in the email account creation for members (not automatic...they will only have the option to sign up for an email account or not)
2. password change from within the account itself. (if u log in to ur email account...u should be able to change ur password to the personal options stated there)
3. Registration form, Lost Password, secondary email account, secret question etc.

I am not really sure if this things already exists, but i was hoping someone could guide me through.

I didnt install the ROUNDCUBE Release from the Site....only the component for joomla. I know the admin was trying to explain that the reason for roundcube to be installed as a component in joomla is for us to have a better integration with the site. Just the same, i would really appreciate it if anyone could assist me on this.

The features you requested 2 and 3 require some special handling depending on your existing service, they can't be implement in Roundcube as a feature since they can only work on similar servers, i would suggest for this to contact a developer for some custom work!

As for feature 1, that can be implement by using a simple form builder, where you can create the form, get an email notification when a request is submitted and create the IMAP account manually!

Again, roundcube is a simple web browser imap client, for what you requested you will need to check a more advanced utility that will most probably also require a dedicated server to customize the IMAP server!

i see that cpanel possibly allows for automatic creation of user emails, what about Ispconfig? i have my own server, and complete control, i am confident that i can create a mod that will do it, but why re-invent the wheel if it has already been done!

Most probably ISPconfig has also an area where you can create email accounts, however i am not aware of such script designed for roundcube, you should check with the roundcube.net mailing list and see if they know anything about this mod!

i have roundcube working on ispconfig and when i create the users they can check email with roundcube, i will look at your script for cpanel and modify it for ispconfig, just thought that it may have been done.
