Hello,
one of my old non-profit clients have a site at:
http://caribbeana.org.

They were running an outdated Joomla version, components, and plug-ins.

They notified me on Friday their site cannot get accessed anymore. I can log in fine from the back-end but the front end is not published anymore. They do have site back-ups made. I downloaded it but do not know how to proceed?


PHP Version: 5.2.14
Joomla! Version: Joomla! 1.5.15

Hi again downloaded their site back-up. To make matters worse they only have partial back-ups of their site.

Would it be advisable to re-install/overwrite their Joomla software or try updating it to 1.5.20?
Their back-end is fine.

Hi Henrik! Re-installing Joomla core files will help, but most probably won't fix the issue, it would be better to rebuild the site to the latest 1.5.20 version if possible, and protect it further from eventual hacks, please check the Joomla security forum for general guidelines

Thank you Ovidiu for the fast reply. I will read up on joomla.org.

Just to be clear.
You are suggesting to do a complete new install with latest version and manually transfer articles etc?

That would be the best is terms of safety as the Joomla 1.0 version is not longer supported
