Problem with cloning 5 Years, 12 Months ago
Hello

I dont know what I am doing wrong but I am having some issues when cloning a site. I have numbered my issues below. If you could help me that would be most appreciated.

Issue 1
I would like to be able to clone my site, completely to a blank server. As such I am assuming that I want EVERY file. When I try to create a backup including every file I get the following error: Could not create archive! Unable to open file '/home/SITENAME/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.pwd' in binary read mode [code -2]

What does this error mean? Is this important or should I simply be un-selecting these files to backup?

Issue 2
When I create a backup (with the _vti_pvt dir unselected) it creates the backup without errors. I then browse for the file and click on the 'clone' option. I type in my site details that I would like to clone it to and click on continue. I then recieve the following error:

FTP upload has failed for file /home/wetlock/public_html/administrator/components/com_cloner/Joomla.Cloner.php ! Stopping ....

Can you please tell me what this error is? I have even tried to create the backup file with that dir excluded but the error still occurs.

Thank you for your help.

B

Hi there! About the errors you get:
- it's good that you excluded the _vti_pvt dir, that has some system files that you don't need to move and the clone generator can't access
- the cloning/move error is different than the generated backup error
- regarded to this error "FTP upload has failed for file /home/wetlock/public_html/administrator/components/com_cloner/Joomla.Cloner.php" , try to check the ftp path to which you want to move the clone, see if it's correct and if you can upload files through ftp in it

If you still have problems moving the clone open a ticket here http://www.joomlaplug.com/component/option,com_waticketsystem/Itemid,43/ and send me your Joomla details and the ftp details to where you want to move the clone!

Hi thanks for your help.

The exclusion of that dir is fine. But I am still confused on the server cloning. I would like to open a ticket at the location you pasted but when i click the link I am told;

You are not authorized to view this resource.
You need to login or request access from an administrator.

Can you just allow me access to that?

Thanks

Brendan

You need to use your purchase email to access that area, but we have granted this account access also!
