JoomlaPlug!

Hi,

I purchased JoomlaCloner for a website I'm about to go live with. I installed the component and made a backup ok. I started the clone procedure then when it asked to the remote ftp details, I saw the ftp password field was in plain text!

There is NO WAY I will attempt a clone of a JoomlaCloner backup for anyone to snag the ftp access information from (in particular the password). Have I overlooked something in the setup or configuration of this software for the field to show normally?

Hi there! First off, if somebody wants to get your ftp password, there is not way the *** masked field will protect you! It only protects you from people who might peep at your computer and are near you, however if somebody would like to steal the pass otherway by sniffing your connection it would still be able to do it!

If you like, open a support ticket and we will help you adjust that field, else if security is that important, i would advise you copy the backup and restore manually to the new host as specified in our Restore FAQ and on the Joomla.Cloner.php restore screen use the "Install files directly" option instead of ftp to avoid the input of any ftp details
