Cloning from Uniform Server 1 Year ago
This is somewhat preliminary but I did a backup locally with Uniform server. Then I FTP'ed the backup file and the 3 scripts to my hosting company. When I try to run it using Joomla.Cloner.php I have twice gotten the message:

Could not continue, unable to read the clone backup file! Please make sure you copied the backup in the same directory as Joomla.Cloner.php

I have another local site that is a Joomla 1.5 site and the backup totally failed under JoomlaCloner so I was not able to try a restore with it.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Hi there! OK, for the first error message you need to recheck your ftp restore path and make sure it points to the correct location, if you want you can also try the "Install files directly" option instead of ftp on the Joomla.Cloner.php screen!

Second, what errors did you get with the Joomla 1.5 site? If you open a ticket i might help you with it!

Well, I did the following...

Used Joomla cloner and archived my site as a .zip file

I then Unzipped it and uploaded it to my server

I then moved the files in the restore/ directory to the root of my site. I've also tried them in other places.

All of my joomla files are up, and I've set up the database where I want it to restore to, I've set the permissions, etc...however no matter what I do I still get this error...

JoomlaCloner Automatic Restore!
Could not continue, unable to read the clone backup file! Please make sure you copied the backup in the same directory as Joomla.Cloner.php

You need to copy the backup archive in the same directory as the Joomla.Cloner.php script, select it from the drop down box from the restore screen, then try again!

Since you already restored the files, you can also check the "skip files permissions ..." option
