I am using your online version. I have a local Joomla package on my host.

I want to install into public_html

Script tells me that things have worked and should click the link http://mydomain/installation/ and nothing happens. There is no installation folder.

Have you logged in using a ftp account to see of any files were transfered in public_html? Also did you used the latest Joomla package 1.8?

Btw, what transfer mode you used for install, direct or ftp?

Weeell. this was not the first attempt at failure, so I already had a copy of Joomla. 1.8 zip on my site. (When I tried before it was not picking the file up, so I did it by hand.

I used both direct and FTP methods along the way getting the same results. Although if the file is local, FTP is redundant...yes?

FTP works fine normally. this is not a new site, or new user. public_html was the destination directory and no, files were not transferred, other than the initial script.

Not sure what happens, the ftp mode it's similar to when doing a manual upload of files!
Question: did you set permissions upon public_html to 777 or writing permision in general so the script can install the Joomla archive?

After finished you need to set the permissions back to defaults!
