Re:wamp 1 Year, 10 Months ago
Glad you asked because I need some help with wamp myself. I have the full and latest version of cloner and and keeping getting errors during the process. Here's my exact step by step procedure, someone please show me what I'm doing wrong because I'm about to pull my hair out over here.

*Note: At work my path is C:\wamp\www\joomla but at home my path is F:\wamp\www\joomla because I have joomla installed on my 2nd hard drive at home. Just letting you know in case that matters.*

I have wamp installed at work and at home. I don't have internet at home so I have to transfer files via CD.

Anyway, at work I made a backup of my site using Cloner. I burned the backup archive to CD as well the orginal Cloner archive.

I went home and tried to follow the Joomlaplug FAQ for manual cloning and restore (I don't know how to use FTP). So I put the backup archive inside my joomla folder, F:\wamp\www\joomla, and also opened the backup archive and extracted and overwrote all the files in F:\wamp\www\joomla. Then I took the 3 files from the Restore folder, from within the Cloner archive, and placed those in F:\wamp\www\joomla.

Next, I opened my browser and pointed it to localhost/joomla/joomla.cloner.php. This opened the page to restore my backup. I entered the mysql information, checked the box for "Skip files restore, will attempt to restore only database", and at the bottom chose the direct restore option instead of FTP.

I hit start and the next page says the configuration file has been updated, go to the next page to restore the database. On the next page it says the database is restored but has errors. In the window that shows the errors it has a LOT and they are all listed as Duplicate Entry errors.

When I bring up my site, www.localhost/joomla, the layout is completely messed up. If I go into administration, all my files are there but on the webpage it has my content plus the orginal joomla sample content in different places all over the page.

I've tried and retried the procedure and can't get it to work. I tried leaving the "Skip files restore, will attempt to restore only database" checkbox UNCHECKED but that didn't help.

I'm lost. Any ideas?

Hi there and welcome to the forum!

The problem you are having is from the database import, i think when you tried to import the mysql backup, the database you wanted to import to was not empty! So, what i suggest, is that you clean the current database of all tables or create a new database, and try to make the restore again!

Let me know if you still have problems!
