JoomlaPlug!

I made a back up of a live site using Joomla Cloner. This was a full back, including database and all files.

On a localhost site, I try to restore only the database from the back up file using the manual method. I select 'skip files', and 'copy files directly' and press submit. This the error message that I see:

Unable to read the database backup file W:/www/cbponline2//administrator/backups/database-sql.sql , database was not imported!
All should be done! Click here to continue...

I was able to restore the same back up file on a different localhost joomla installation if I chose to restore the entire database AND files.

Is it not possible to restore the database only?

It is possible to restore only the database, however you need to first extract it from the backup, so do this:

1. extract the administrator/backups/database-sql.sql file from your backup archive
2. put in the same location on your restore host
3. start Joomla.Cloner.php restore script, a drop down should appear under the mysql details with that file to select
4. start the restore process with this option checked "skip files restore..."
