awstats cron 12 Months ago  
Does anyone know what to use for updating awstats?

I use the following task to run every 15 minutes:

/stats/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=www.mysite.com -update 2>&1 /dev/null

Is this right?

You need to add also the perl comamnd to execute the awstats.pl script, so the correct cron command would be

perl /stats/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -config=www.mysite.com -update 2>&1 /dev/null

I can update the stats manually by clicking a link in awstats:
http://www.mysite.com/stats/cgi-bin/awstats.pl?framename=mainright&update=1

Would it work if i just added this link using the 'web address' possibility?

And what interval should i use when this site only has a few visitors a day?

If you run it in your browser does it work? And this without having to be logged in into any restricted area? If so, then yes, it will work! Ovidiu

Thanks for your quick response!

Clicking the link works. Stats are being updated. No pass access or anything, open to public.

Will it work with any interval, or should i update every hour, every minute or once a day?

This site has only a few visitors a day, and wont get more in the future (That's not my goal anyway).

Running the cron once a day is sufficient in my opinion! Ovidiu
