Files do not unzip on host 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago

I've been trying to install Joomla using Joomla start. I've got Joomla.start.php, ver.txt and Joomla_1.5.1-Stable-Full_Package.zip uploaded to the html folder on web server.

If I use the ftp option in Joomla start I get a message that reads as below:
FTP connection has failed!Attempted to connect to xx.xxx.xxx.xx for user userwebxxxxx

If I use the install files directly option, it tells me that Joomla has been installed. But it hasn't, because the installation does not open and I can see that the zip file has not been unpacked on the webserver.

Can you help?
