Before I start modifying things I might not or should not, I thought I would ask here.

Are there certain files I can edit to add URL return links or variables I could add return back to the main site and other areas for example?

You should check the components/com_roundcube/skins/default directory for files to edit, and specially the components/com_roundcube/skins/default/includes one which contains a header.html file

Do those files make the changes application wide?

As far as i know, yes, the files from the includes/ directory are used on most parts of the script! Ovidiu
