error upon install 4 Days, 9 Hours ago  
I keep getting an error that says the zip file cannot be opened? I've tried uploading the zip file to my ftp directory and having joomlastart download it, but it's a no go either way. Please advise.

I suggest you try the JoomlaDesktop utility located here http://www.joomlaplug.com/Tools/JoomlaStart/JoomlaDesktop_Joomla_Installer.html

I am not sure what that error could be related to!
