JoomlaPlug!

Dear Forum Members, I have been trying to install Joomla with Joomla.Start.php. But every time I try an error is reported as follows: 'Error : PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature'. I don't know any PHP, but is enamoured with this great Joomla CMS!. Please help. The FTP softs like CoreFTP, WS FTP, Coffeecup FTP could not establish connection with my remote web server. But I can do that through Internet Explorer login mode by typing ftp.mysitename.com in the address bar. And this upload method is interrupted frequently and is tiresome. I could not ascertain which files are uploaded and which are interrupted. So in the end I am totally confused. So I think Joomla.Start.php is the only viable option. But this error haunts me. Please help! With love, waiting....

Hi again, I uploaded a zipped file of Joomla 1.5.3 to the server using Internet Explorer, but could not find it listed in the drop down box, as the admin had pointed out in answer to the question of user 'comp'. The box does not list that zip file. Please advise.

Hi there! To see that archive zip file listed in the Joomla.Start.php drop down menu you would need to make your current directory readable

Try that, and if you still have issues, it would be better to try our other tool called JoomlaDesktop http://www.joomlaplug.com/Tools/JoomlaStart/JoomlaDesktop_Joomla_Installer.html

Hi Admin, thank you for the support. I have done my Joomla installation in my site using the following method: I uploaded the zipped Joomla 1.5.3 to my site and started the installation process with Joomla.Start.php. I refreshed the page and found the Joomla 1.5.3 zip file listed in the second radial button. I selected it and clicked enter. But the next page told me that there is some error and I could not go no further. So I stopped the installation and quit Joomla.Start.php. But later on checking the server I found that Joomla.Start.php had actually unzipped the Joomla 1.5.3 zip file in the servers root folder. I used the file manager of my hosting account and moved the files inside the unzipped Joomla 1.5.3 folder to the root folder and deleted the empty Joomla 1.5.3 folder. Then I started the installation process again by entering http://mysitename(.)com/index.php(usuall process of Joomla installation).
I described the process so that some body some where suffering with the same problem benefit from my experience.

I found Joomla.Start.php when I was in a quandery because all of the FTP softwares installed in my computer could not connect to the server, and the instructions received from the Server people could not help me. Thank you!
