Re:Trying desperately to clone...error at restore. 6 Months, 1 Week ago
I'm new here and I'm trying to use JoomlaCloner for the first time but I have already had lots of failures.

My situation is:

I have a Joomla 1.5 legacy running with Easyphp on localhost
I want to move it to www.websitename.com
I have a fresh copy of Joomla 1.5 legacy running on www.websitename.com
The backup went fine, no problems there
When I import the database, I get an error saying lots os the tables already exist, and I have duplicated entries. I'm using the same database where the fresh Joomla copy is installed

After that I get a white page with "Could not connect to database."

What am I doing wrong?
Everyone says is so easy, I'm feeling so stupid.

Thanks.

Hi there! You should use an empty database for restore, Joomla does not need to be installed prior to the restore process

Let me know if you have any issues after! Ovidiu

It worked! I was indeed stupid.
But as the website is in portuguese, I get a lot of Â. Should I correct this during the backup or during the restore?

You should remake the restore, but this time check the "Character set to the file" option to utf8 from the Joomla.Cloner.php screen
