Corrupt Backups 5 Months, 1 Week ago
I am consistently getting corrupt backups using JoomlaCloner from all of my sites, now.

Can't get a good one.

I've tried everything I can think of, and haven't fixed the problem yet.

Used different browsers, websites are different versions of joomla with different configurations, tried upgrading the cloner version, worked on the database to make sure it was functional and not in need of repair, checked the major default components to make sure they're there and working, tried just backing up the files, tried browsing the files to see if I can find anything strange, have tried getting just one site to back up properly, it's happening across two different hosts, tried ftp - both in and out, tried two different ftp programs, three different compression programs...

So, I've ruled a lot of things out but haven't pinpointed the problem.

any other suggestions?

TIA,
t

Hi there! Please open a support ticket and send us your Joomla site url and admin details to check the issue!

Are you using a ftp program to download the backups to your computer? If so, did you set these options in your JoomlaCloner Config:
1. "Manual backup" set to Yes
2. "Backup type" set to TAR
3. both "Active" checkboxes unchecked

Re:Corrupt Zip Backups 5 Months, 1 Week ago
I'm having a similar issue with the zip backup option. Is there a size limit on the zip backups? My site is over 100,000KB.

The tar backup seems fine.

The ZIP type uses usually more server memory than the TAR archive type, you should check with your hosting company if they have a memory_limit and what is that?

Anyway, i would advise leaving the backup type to TAR!

Re:Corrupt Zip Backups 5 Months, 1 Week ago
I had tried some of those settings, and added "manual" to the list.

I've always had it set on tar but I notice now it's started backing it up as zip, anyway.

You know what; I think that's it.

The backups started being corrupt when the format somehow changed itself to zip.

(I keep copies of old backups; been in the position of NEEDING to restore and the current copy is corrupt and grateful for the older copy ;o)

It's doing it on both hosts, though (?), so I don't think it's a server issue.

Could there be some component or module that I'm using that would be overriding that or interrupting it?

Thanks for the quick response,
Tracy

Never mind; cancel the excitement.

The tars are corrupt, too...

(sigh)
