I'm trying to set my bakcup directory. I've created a directory, given it full permissions, but keep getting this message -
Your backup directory /domains/porthillscouts.org.uk/public_html/joomla/backup/ is not corect! Could not read...
any ideas?

Usually this means the path you have there is incorrect!
Please look in your php.ini info and look for DOCUMENT_ROOT variable, that will show you the correct server path to your domain!

You have a link in your backend called 'System -> System Info', then on the loading screen go to the 'Php Info' tab, there you will find the content of your php.ini file!

In my 'System -> System Info', 'Php Info' tab, there is no DOCUMENT_ROOT variable mentioned...
Am I looking at the wrong thing?
