Xcloner needs to do more? 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I used Xcloner to move site contents from one host to another, also changing domain names. The site worked, thanks!

But more could have been done.

1. In Global Config, the "Path to temp folder" and "Path to log folder" were wrong. Looks to me like Xcloner has enough information to "fix" this?

2. "Components/ .xcloner" had wrong information in "Backup Start Path" and "Backup Store Path". Again, doesn't Xcloner have enough information to fix this? I got scary warning messages ("Can't login&quot when choosing "Components/ .xcloner" at the new site, but I was able to write the correct information to the configuration file.

3. I'm hoping I don't discover other needed changes.

XCloner automatically detects the new location path changes if you replace the cloner.config.php file with the original one or if you simply reinstall XCloner

Hope it helps! Ovidiu

Thanks, that's simple enough. Does this fix both the Joomla Global Config issues, in addition to the Xcloner path issue?

But I still suggest Xcloner 2.1.1 do whatever is required, automatically, to avoid issues.

XCloner does not automatically update the logs/ and tmp/ paths from the Joomla Global config since each user needs to check that after each move and make sure they are the desired paths

If you only want use the default logs and tmp folders that come within Joomla, then simply replace the path values as "logs/" or "tmp/" and they will reference to the same location after the each move

Thanks, I've fixed the Joomla logs and tmp folders, and will test when I move the site from the temp location to the "real" location.

I'd like to see a FAQ or a list of suggestions for making life with Xcloner more foolproof.
