Will Jcron ensure automatic backups using joomlacloner?
or viceversa - does joomlacloner have an auto-backup feature?

HI there! JoomlaCloner does not have the ability to create scheduled automated backups, it only provides the cron command which you can input to the JCron software, so yes, you can use JCron and the JoomlaCloner cron command to generate scheduled backups on your site
